| i'm back in sc! started driving at 6:15am yesterday and got in
around 8:30. it would've been sooner, but i hit a couple of jams.
sad news: looks like the proposed christmas party won't be happening
this year. things are just too crazy this time. however, i
still want to see people! if you're in the columbia area (or will
be at some point) give me a call and we can meet up for a meal or a
coffee.
the semester ended well. lots of christmas and birthday celebrations. i love my friends in syracuse dearly.
i'm leaving for san francisco christmas evening and i'll be there for about a week and a half. i'm soooo excited!
i'm looking forward to a chill week at home before i leave.
(chill = wedding planning, christmas shopping, and friend visiting.)
well, that's about it. i wish my professor would post our grades already.

| because i'm finishing a book for tomorrow's class that's somewhat like a chilean version of catcher in the rye
in that the main character likens himself to holden and even buys a hat
like holden's and runs away from home and stays in a hotel. but
you don't care. anyway, just a few more pages to go then it's
bedtime. i feel like i'm in college again. i never stay up
this late.
to answer brandy's question: i was flava flav for halloween. mayhap you've seen the ridiculous pictures on facebook.
i also did a fashion shoot with my photographer roommate last weekend. those pictures are around there somewhere as well.
to answer tara's question: there's a tentative christmas get-together
scheduled for december 21st. that's a friday. just gotta
check the schedule with the folks. how's that sound for everyone
who can possibly make it?
i'm driving down to sc for thanksgiving with a couple friends from
arkansas (who are also grad students here), and i'm pretty excited
about it. wonderful thanksgiving meal on thursday and then dinner
with the future in-laws on friday. all of that sandwiched between
lots of driving.
and then christmas break isn't too far away, calendar-wise.
work-wise, it's kind of far away, though i only have one final paper
this semester. i need to get some more of the thesis
written. at least i've started it.
and i'm flying to san fran after christmas. i'm so excited about this i could burst.
ok. five more pages to go then sleep time.
chaufa!

| instead of blogging, i should be:
a. reading for my thesis
b. grading something
c. sleeping?
d. reading for tomorrow's class
e. all of the above
if you answered "e," way to go! before plunging into some reading
and (maybe, just maybe) getting to sleep early, i thought i'd do a
quick update. it's been a while.
so i'm deep into my last year of my master's program here at
syracuse. this semester has been the most difficult because it
seems like i never have enough time to get things done. on the
plus side: i'm enjoying weekly gatherings with friends (including card
night at mabethyn's on wednesdays, friday night Bible study, and sunday
night movie night...these are my mandatory social times); i've been
attending a small reformed presbyterian church where i've met some
genuinely friendly and intelligent people; my thesis is taking shape,
and i'm excited about it; i'm faithfully going to the gym (yay free
weights!); and i have a super sweet roommate.
i'd say things are going quite well.
oh, and i'm engaged. so that's really exciting. he's in san
francisco, which is exciting except for the fact that i haven't seen
him since august and won't see him until after christmas. i'm
super stoked about going to san fran in a couple of months, though, and
then moving there next summer. he got us an apartment downtown,
and i can't wait to see it.
wedding plans are coming along...slowly. they'll pick up after
the semester's over and july's closer. (fyi: july 5th's the
date.) we'll be getting married at my home church (his dad'll
perform the ceremony) and having the reception at riverbank's botanical
gardens. (which i'm sooooo excited about!)
so that's my life right now, for those of you who were interested. i'm peacing out now because it's time to read stuff.
chaufa!
p.s. peru was amazing.
